We, the Northern Michigan Cancer Crusaders, are a group of individuals who have received donations from you in the past under the name of American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. We raised $500,000 in 7 years. In 2005, we learned that little to none of these monies were returned to our local area. We decided that our efforts were better used by forming our own non-profit corporation that would donate all of our money to cancer needs in this community and area communities.
On October 1, 2005, Northern Michigan Cancer Crusaders was formed.
We are asking that you consider us again for your generous donations. We guarantee that 100% of it will be used locally to help with cancer survivors needs including transportation, medications, prosthesis, and hotel rooms if the need to travel for treatments, just to name a few. We are also building a loaner closet with walkers, wheel chairs, bath chairs, etc. that can facilitate the needs of those who can’t afford them. We also assist with education, research, and awareness.
We have several events planned through out the year from a 50’s dance in Boyne City, Doe Camp & Craft Show in Petoskey, the Ride for Life (motorcycle ride and show in September), and many more.
Our fiscal year ends in September. We have our grand finale’, the Monster Bash & Harvest Festival, where we have live music through out the evening, lots of celebrating, and announce our success over the past year. If finances allow, we give out checks to charities or groups as our membership has voted. During this event we raise additional funds to begin the next year of fund raising.
